Fear Not: Why a Rainy Wedding Day Is Really a Blessing

Today's Sunday post goes out to all the brides and bridettes who have either just had a rather wet wedding or are starting to get a bit more concerned about it as the English summer kicks into Autumn at the end of June.

Listen very carefully, I will say this only once (*said in a French resistance accent*): rain on your wedding day is good luck.

Yes, it may frizz your hair and ruin your 'Choo's.

And yes, the beautiful outdoor reception might have to make its way indoors to a back-up room which didn't have 2 years of planning behind it.

But at its heart, your wedding day is about tying your life in a knot with your husband. And knots, as all sailors know, only become stronger when wet.

Also, it's a great excuse to buy yourself some new wellies like these duck-egg blue Hunter lovelies.

And you get cute pictures with umbrellas - isn't this shot romantic?

I have also just found out that in France, there is a tradition to avoid a rainy wedding day that either the bride or the bride's mother has to take a dozen freshly laid eggs to the nuns of the Convent of Saint Clare. Sounds like the nuns there just really like omelets...

Thanks for reading, and fingers crossed for a rainy wedding day (well, maybe not).
